To seek an international solution to Taiwan’s 2050 net zero path, ATNZE and Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (TAISE) organized, and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Taiwan co-organized the “2022 Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainability – CCUS & Hydrogen” with a successful completion. ATNZE expressed gratitude to domestic and international enterprises, experts and scholars from Australia and Japan, who publicly shared their experience of practice and outcome. The forum not only establishes the international technical communication and cooperation exchange channel for Taiwan but also unfolds a new chapter for Taiwan in the technology development of CCUS and hydrogen.

ATNZE Chairman CHIEN YU-HSIN and Secretary General Hsiao-Kan Ma took a group photo with the CCUS forum host and attending guests.

MOEA Bureau of Energy Deputy Director-General Lee Chun-li stated that 98% of Taiwan’s energy is from imports, which is a rigorous test for the safety and stability of national energy. In the 98% of imported energy, the energy for China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation accounts for 85%. As of 2025, the ratio of renewable energy will increase to 20%, and the energy transformation gradually shifts from high-carbon emissions to low-carbon emissions, driving Taiwan to meet the net zero goals.

Lee Chun-li explained that introducing 9~12% of hydrogen to energy, industry, life, and society for 2050 net zero, hydrogen will plan an important role in the 2050 net zero strategies.
